Monsters are arriving, and all you’ve got is your keyboard. That’s good enough for Monster Invasion, a strategic game of shooting creepy crawly things that uses nothing but the power of typing to unleash carnage. Type the word associated with the enemy to take a shot at the beast. If things get hairy, type the name of a nearby teleporter to shift there, collecting power-ups and shifting your point of view. It’s a tense, quick-draw sort of game that can really put your hands to the test. And we’ve got all the secrets and strategies to make your typing skills deadlier than ever before!
Monster Invasion Tips & Tricks
- Each time you gain a level, you get three points to spread amongst your attributes and one ability point. Spend them wisely, as they’re hard-won later in the game.
- Spread ability points out over all of the stats, but focus on one a little more to keep it in the lead. Depending on your playing style, you might single out toughness to deal more damage or teleport so you can move around the screen faster.
- Abilities are the opposite of attributes in that you should focus your points on one instead of spreading them out. Again, place your points where your playing style needs it, adding melee counter attacks if you find yourself surrounded often, for example.
- Go for power-ups whenever they appear, but try not to teleport to an area crawling with monsters. It’s always better to play a defensive game, especially early on.
What’s Your Monster Invasion Style?
Fast Typist – Focus on the vision and accuracy attribute and any ability that improves teleportation or adds bonus power-ups.
Slow Typist – You’ll need a high toughness to survive in this game. Focus on abilities that improve defense, such as dodger and melee survivalist. Teleporting often is another good strategy.
Inaccurate Typist – Mistakes can be fatal in this game, so if you’re prone to errors, focus on abilities and attributes that increase damage, vision, and defense.
Monster Invasion Attributes and Abilities
Follow the suggestions above to plot out where you’ll spend your ability and attribute points. Remember: you only get a few per level, and once you assign a point, you can’t unassign it.
Toughness attribute – More health, more defense. You can’t go wrong putting points in this attribute.
Accuracy attribute – More accurate shots means you’re less likely to miss, a critical stat if you do a lot of close-range combat.
Teleport attribute – Tired of waiting forever to switch bases? Each point fed into the teleport skill lowers that time by 0.05 seconds. Excellent for both offensive and defensive strategies.
Vision attribute – See farther, hit faster. A great skill to pump up if you lack typing skills, but also good if you find yourself frequently without anything to shoot at!
Learner – Gain additional experience from killing monsters. A good ability to focus on if you’re lagging behind.
Dodger – Dodge monster attacks. Only focus on this ability if you neglect teleporting abilities/attributes.
Bonus Expert – Bonuses appear more frequently. Let’s face it, who couldn’t do well with more bonuses?
Bonus Economist – Bonuses last longer and are used more efficiently. Great if you’re feeling overwhelmed or can never get to power-ups in time.
Melee Survivalist – Counter monster attacks with your fists. If you can keep enemies at bay, this skill isn’t as useful.
Radioactive – Poison monsters with deadly gas.
Dangerously Portable – Each time you teleport, there’s a small chance you’ll trigger an explosion. It’s a low chance, but when it works, it’s quite helpful.
Frightful Shooter – Killing a monster may frighten away nearby monsters.
Pistol Maniac – Killing a monster with a pistol adds another bullet.
Shotgun Killer – Fire multiple bullets at once with the shotgun equipped.
RPG Expert – Increases the radius of RPG missile explosions.
Monster Piercer – Sniper bullet speed increases and can pass through multiple monsters.
